No matter how careful you are with your favourite brew; there is always a chance that you are going to spill your coffee and make a mess. This could be on your clothes; it could be on your sofa or it could even be on your carpet.
Coffee stains can be a bit of a headache. Not only are they noticeable, but they can be tricky to remove. That said, they are not impossible; and if you are wondering how to get rid of that pesky coffee stain then you might want to check out our guide on how to remove them and get everything looking as clean as possible again.
Run it under cold water
If the stain is fresh and you can easily put it under the tap (not exactly something that you can do with a carpet) then you can try the simplest approach, cold water. If the stain is fresh then you should find that running cold water through the stain is enough to loosen it up.
If this doesn’t work; or you can’t take the stain to the tap then vinegar is your next option. The acid in vinegar will degrade the pigment within the stain. You should avoid adding vinegar to a stain neat; instead you should mix it with water and then scrub at the stain with a towel.
See if shaving cream works
It might sound like a strange idea, but sometimes shaving cream can be just what you need for your coffee stain. Shaving cream contains active ingredients which are known to act as cleaning agents. Much like you will find in soap, but it is much easier to use. You just need to apply the shaving foam, rub it in and then rinse it with some water.
Rub in some toothpaste
Toothpaste cleans our teeth because it has exfoliating powers. Not only will the toothpaste and toothbrush combo get stains off of your teeth; but it can also help to remove stains from other places too. Use an old toothbrush and rub a small amount of toothpaste lightly into the stain. Two things to remember about this is to remember to use a white toothpaste and then rinse it off when you are done.
Sprinkle on some baby powder
Now we know that this is going to sound like the strangest idea; but baby powder really can work. You need to sprinkle it directly onto the stain and leave it there for a few minutes. Then you should simply brush off the baby powder with a damp cloth, hopefully taking the stain with it.
Use a natural soap
Raiding your bathroom can really help you if you are worried about a coffee stain. Natural soap is a great way to wash it out, once you scrub it on you need to let it sit on the stain for at least an hour before rinsing it off with water.
Of course, you might find that you try all these different methods and that your stain is still hanging in there. If this is true for you then you might want to consult an expert in cleaning and make sure that they get the stain out for you.
