How to safely clean your touch screen

Touch screens on a gadget, by nature, are going to have smears and smudges from fingers all over them. It is essential to keep your smartphone touch screen clean, not only for hygiene reasons but also to keep it looked after and looking it’s best. Here we are going to give you a few tips on cleaning your smartphone touch screen, which can also be applied to keeping the ipad or tablet, or any other screen, in tip top condition.

A dry microfiber cloth is ideal for the job of cleaning a mobile phone touch screen as it is soft and doesn’t leave any scratches or fibers behind at all. You can get specialized cloths for cleaning your gadgets, but a general microfiber cloth, or a glasses cloth in fact, is sufficient. The beauty of these types of cloths too is that they do an excellent job of cleaning without the use of cleaners. Never use cleaners of even a damp cloth unless you really have to, you don’t want to take any risks that may potentially ruin your device. If you do require a damp cloth then it is a better idea to use whatever cleaner is recommended with the product, or a spot of distilled water to moisten the cloth.

Never use paper towels to clean your smartphone screen, or any other touch screen, as this will scratch it. Also, as has been said, it is vitally important to avoid chemical cleaners that aren’t designed for the job, and take care not to use too much water. Some people use a very small amount of hand sanitiser to kill the germs that are likely to be lingering on the screen of their device, however this has not been recommended by the makers and so should be done very carefully and at your own risk.

Some things that should never be done when cleaning your touch screen is to over rub. Also, don’t apply any great pressure as you clean as this could cause damage to your device. Always be extremely careful when cleaning your touch screen smartphone, as has been said, a dry soft cloth is always the best choice.
